Transforming Transport & Rail Environments

In conjunction with the ongoing investment into the UK’s underground rail network and associated transport infrastructure, Flowcrete UK is pleased to unveil its variety of acrylic resin based flooring solutions, which have been designed to provide a vibrant, non-slip and tactile route from the turnstile right through to the platform edge…

Introducing Flowcrete’s Flooring Solution for Underground Rail Environments…

Flowcrete UK’s newly launched Flowfast Rapid Transit systems, including both Flowfast Rapid Transit SR and Flowfast Rapid Transit Tactiles, are a result of our award-winning flooring scientists spending months in the lab in order to develop the perfect rail flooring product that would meet the following performance criteria

•   High durability to cope with heavy footfall
•   Low fire, smoke and toxic risks
•   Lightweight construction
•   Fast Cure MMA Technology
•   Slip resistance to keep passengers safe
•   Tactile sensitive for the visually impaired
•   LUL & BS Compliance

Safe, Eye-Catching & Tactile Resin Surface Product for Rail Networks…

Flowcrete UK’s Flowfast Rapid Transit system can not only help improve the design aesthetics of these often dark and dull environments but provides a safe, anti-slip and easily cleaned floor finish that will not wane or distress under heavy footfall or wet contaminants brought in under the soles of shoes.

Our new flooring range for underground rail networks also includes sufficient tactile ground surface indicators, including stair nosings, entrance mats and platform edge stripping, so as to cater for visually impaired customers using these high-speed transport services.

Low Risk, Fire Safe and Compliant Material for Use on the Platform Edge…

Flowcrete’s Flowfast Rapid Transit platform flooring solution meets all of the rigorous safety recommendations regarding the use of fire-proof floor covering systems in underground rail environments as detailed in the London Underground Limited Engineering Standards and Building Regulations (BS 476 parts 6 and 7) in compliance with Section 12 of the Fire Precautions Act, 1971.

Fast-Cure & Fast-Installation Flooring to Reduce Disruption to Operations...

The Flowfast Rapid Transit range from Flowcrete UK offers underground rail facilities managers the additional benefit of fast-track installation.

As part of our popular Flowfast acrylic resin flooring range, Flowfast Rapid Transit contains a powerful MMA catalyst that helps to speed up the cure of the flooring material – allowing the surface to be fully serviced in just two hours after application.

This of huge benefit to organisations involved in developing underground rail stations as it prevents major disruption to both railway schedules and operations at the station, or when applied in conjunction with a new-build construction problems, the fast-turnaround of the flooring surface allows follow on trades to access the site, quickly and safely, without fear of distressing the newly laid floor finish.

Two Innovative Systems to Select or Use Together in Situ…

Flowfast Rapid Transit SR uses quartz aggregates to achieve a joint-free and positively textured finish, and is available in a creative range of 10 eye-catching colours to brighten up underground rail platforms and stairways.

Flowfast Rapid Transit Tactiles have been designed for use in conjunction with the Rapid Transit SR system where they are to be laid in a strip along the platform edge.

The Flowfast Rapid Transit Tactiles, which are 400 x 400mm in size, have raised blister studs or corduroy strips that are filled with a high performance aggregate to ensure a skid and slip-resistant finish, that alerts visually impaired customers to any fall or hazard risks with the station environment.

The tiles are sufficiently flexible so as to incorporate small differences in the level of the substrate and have been designed so that they cannot be installed the wrong way round or pose any trip-hazard.
