Mondéco TZ set to make waves at World of Concrete 2011
Flowcrete North America is set to make waves at World of Concrete 2011, when it launches its innovative polished polyurethane terrazzo flooring system, Mondéco TZ.
Mondéco TZ - a joint-free polyurethane terrazzo flooring system that combines hard-wearing silver granite and white flint aggregates with a powerful silver-ion based antimicrobial agent – has been designed by Flowcrete to deliver the highest order in durability, resistance and hygiene for the most demanding industrial environments.
The system is based on a highly resilient polyurethane concrete that offers excellent resistance to abrasion, substantial impact and thermal shock as well as severe chemical attack.
The material, which is ¼ inch thick once ground, can withstand temperatures ranging from -40°F through to 221°F and is well suited to harsh steam and hot water cleaning possesses as well as aggressive cleaning agents.
The system incorporates tough granite and flint aggregates that serve to enhance the product’s durability and longevity, while at the same time, provide a surface that offers the natural beauty of traditional Italian terrazzo.
Also, included within the resin matrix is Polygiene® - a powerful silver-based antimicrobial additive that eliminates bacterial growth at ground level.
The science is based on a natural amino compound, which emits a constant stream of silver ions that destroy any bacteria that settles on the surface of the floor.
Unlike other chemically manufactured additives or surface treatments this process remains active for the lifetime of the floor – even when worn or damaged – offering round-the-clock protection against harmful bugs including E-coli, MRSA, Salmonella, SARS and C. difficile.
The system is predominantly targeted at the pharmaceutical, healthcare, chemical and food & beverage sectors where heavy traffic, machinery, hot fluid spillage, steam cleaning and chemical attack are common-place.
For the past two decades, these industries have faced a tough choice between the impressive all-round resistance of polyurethane resin and the aesthetic allure of epoxy or vinyl based floor coatings.
Mondéco TZ marries the durability of polyurethane with the decorative element of epoxy to offer a new, exciting alternative to traditional industrial floor coatings.
The inclusion of historically hard-wearing granite and flint aggregates within the polyurethane resin renders the surface less susceptible to cracking than epoxies and offers greater resistance to chemical abuse than standard polyurethane coatings.
Mondéco TZ complies with FDA and CFIA requirements and is considered food-safe for use in food & beverage production, processing and packaging environments. In addition, the material comes with ESD grades available to ensure a static-free surface in sensitive pharmaceutical areas.
The material has already been laid in the facilities of some of the world’s major players in these sectors including, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Bayer and Skanska.
